March 31, 2009 - Dinner

Grilled vegetables: chili pasillas, tomato, and green bell pepper. Cabbage soup, with carrots and fresh chopped green onions (from the corned beef stock). Corned beef over rice with cabbage and carrots. Cabernet sauvignon.

March 22, 2009 - Dinner


Baked salmon, anaheim chili, mushrooms, garlic, and bamboo shoots. Teriyaki sauce (garlic, soy sauce, mirin, and sake - I didn't have any ginger damn it!). Cabernet sauvignon. (The Almaden box wine.)

March 22, 2009 - Breakfast


Instant noodle soup with freshly chopped green onions. Hot dog, egg (sunny side up-must be slightly runny*). Grilled vegetables: tomato, chili pasilla, and anaheim chili. Dark roast coffee and cabernet sauvignon.

*The need to have slightly runny eggs is because as a child, my parents used to serve me steaming hot rice with a raw egg mashed into it. (Rocky Balboa ain't got nothing on me!)

Going Mediterranean on this on. Meatballs with parsley, cilantro and ground anise seeds.
Couldn't taste licorce flavor of anise seeds. Need more ground anise seeds!

March 14, 2009 - Lunch



Grilled Vegetables: tomato, bell pepper, and onion. Teriyaki beef. Kimchi style pickled root (in dark red). Chicken sauteed in soy sauce, sake and patis over cilantro, pickled white radish (daigo) over sliced white bread. My homage to Mediterranean, Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean cuisine.
